In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, School Governors are members of a school's Governing Body. They have responsibility for raising school standards through their three core strategic functions of:

a. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

b. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and

c. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

They are the largest volunteer force in the country.

The Instrument of Governance states that the Governing Body comprises of the following:

7 Foundation Governors
2 Staff Governors, one of which is always the Head Teacher
2 Parent Governors
1 Local Authority representative

No governors have relevant business and pecuniary interests associated with the school.

No governors have any material interests arising from relationships between other governors or school staff.

Governing Body of the Year

Our Governing Body won the Governing Body of the Year Award and were presented with a certificate from the Nottinghamshire Association of Governors for recognition of the support the Governors give to the school.
