Welcome to Owls!
Well here we are at the final half term of the school year, and for our Year 6 children, the final half term at Primary School!
We have a jam-packed few weeks ahead of ourselves, with trips, sports week, performances and plenty of learning opportunities still to come.
Our main focus for our Learning Journeys this half term will be 'Fighting Fit', looking at the circulatory system as well as healthy living, as well as 'Extinct or evolved?', exploring inheritance, the work of Darwin and much more!
There will also be discussions and learning centred around transition as the Year 6's prepare to fly the nest at the end of the year, and of course the Leavers Service.
Summer 1 - Marvellous Maps!
Welcome to the Summer term!
- The Owls will be exploring continents, countries, cities and oceans of the world, discovering global trade links and current economical events. We will also develop our map reading skills, using 4 and 6 figure grid references. Is the world a fair place? Do we get value for money?
- As the wise Year 6 children prepare for their assessments during this term, we will also have the opportunity to enjoy creative Art lessons, as well as circuit training and athletics in PE.
Welcome to Class Owl's page for the school's website spring 2017.
Welcome back to a new term! This term the Owls will be learning all about transforming materials, advertising, descriptive writing, dialogue and the geographical features of the UK. We will continue to work on developing our reading skills, grammatical knowledge and spellings as well as focusing on the four operations, fractions and solving problems in Maths. In PE we will focus on gymnastics and developing our coordination and ball skills.
Owl's Home Learning Challenge for the spring term part 1:
This half term we would like pupils to design their own geometric pattern, an information sheet has been sent home (a copy of which is below). The work should be ready to exhibit during the week beginning 6/2/17
It would be brilliant if all the pupils in Owl class can, along with their ongoing reading and spelling practice, spend some time each week having a go at some of the games and puzzles on bug club. Each week I will upload various games linked to the learning we have been doing in class.
Some pupils maybe given some extra number work to help them develop their times tables and number skills. Something else that would really help your child would be spending 10-20 minutes each day looking at the 'Maths Vidamins'. This site has a web-linked PDF document that covers the range of maths taught with tutorial videos and puzzles and challenges to consolidate your child's learning.
